Oh yeah, some textiles!
You wouldn't think I was a mixed media textiles student would you?! Well here's some!
These are a few sketchbook pages from my last project 'New Atlantide', looking at creating innovative menswear embroideries and prints based on the fusion between ancient Greek and Middle Eastern design and 60s surfwear. Think The Beach Boys of Atlantis!

And some fabric prints based on the Cornish seaside town of St Ives. Famous for its quality of light and old Art school the town is a tourist mecca and becomes completely saturated during the summer holidays. It was my idea to look at the negative impact this tourism brings with it and the effect of Holiday homes on the local community.

Back to the Future
Ok so these are a little bit old now, but I didn't have the blog then so I'm gonna wack them on anyway!
These were taken in April last year in San Francisco when the Olympic Flame arrived in the city. I heard about it on the news that morning in my hostel, had to see that, grabbed my camera and headed down the the waterfront!
Thousands of people turned out to both see the Flame and to demonstrate against the China's hosting of the Olympics. SF has a large Chinese population so the pro and anti Chinese sentiments ran pretty high. The authorities, worried about the demonstration getting out of hand, kept changing the route of the Flame and, with rumours spreading like Chinese (sorry, couldn't resist) Whispers, the crowds spent the whole day running around the city chasing the Flame. I didn't manage to catch a glimpse of it at all. Met some pretty interesting characters though!
